If your business is considering a design update, or entirely re-creating its online strategy, implementing a content management system (CMS) can SAVE MONEY. Here are a few points we’d like everyone to know, in addition to helpful links at the bottom.
# 1 – There are many reliable, user-friendly content management systems (CMS) that are FREE!!
# 2 – Most CMS programs will NOT hurt search engine optimization.
# 3 – CMS programs can save time and money by not requiring a web savvy person to make an update.
# 4 – Nothing is perfect when it comes to computers, hosting, etc. We recommend storing your website content in multiple areas. e.g. Keep stored files on your office computer or server, in addition to the files stored (and backed up) within your content management system. Note: A good CMS system should include a “backup function”, which should be used at least once a week, or as needed.
# 5 – CMS systems are not moron-proof! Designate one person, and then one “backup” person to be in charge of what is posted through the CMS. If you get too many hands in something as important as your website, we’ll bet money that sugar is gonna hit the fan and there will be no one to be held accountable.
